About the Study

I am Dr. Ken Brackstone, a postdoctoral researcher based at the University of Southampton, UK. I am requesting your participation in a short online survey, which, on average, will take approximately 10 minutes. This is a short online study designed to explore the association between people's sense of meaning in life and psychological strengths. In the study, you will be asked to read a short extract from an essay. After, you will be asked some questions about how you feel.

You should complete this study when you are alone quietly at your computer or laptop and your responses cannot be overseen. Please take your time to respond to the questions thoughtfully and openly. Remember that there are no right or wrong answers, so please provide completely honest responses. However, you can also leave any questions blank that you strongly would prefer not to answer. You can also stop completing the survey at any time and the data entered will not be saved. All data are treated as confidential - we will not collect any identifying information in the study. You will not be able to withdraw your data upon submission.

There are no significant risks to participation in this study. However, you are free to leave any questions blank if you wish.

We have tried to ensure that the questions in this study do not cause any distress. However, it is not uncommon to experience some anxieties or concerns when completing such questionnaires, and support is available. If participating in this study has raised any issues for you, we recommend that you contact your doctor, or click on one of the following resources:

       - UK participants: find a counsellor at www.bacp.org

If you have any questions, please contact the administrator of the survey, Dr. Ken Brackstone, at K.Brackstone@soton.ac.uk.

We gratefully appreciate you taking the time to help us.
